At one time, even when I first began blogging not so many years ago, this was a fairly straightforward matter. But that is no longer the case. Let’s give you an idea of the scale of the problem
So many blogs
WordPress is the world’s premier blogging software. It is an extraordinary content management system enabling ordinary folk like you and me to present information to the world in a way that looks both tidy, and pretty.
If you want to be a pet blogger, the chances are very high, that you’ll be using WordPress.
WordPress tells us that tens of thousands of brand new WordPress sites are created every single day.
And according to WordPress, nearly 70 million blog posts are published every single month!
It is almost impossible to imagine such a scale of activity.
Or to imagine the massive resource that is now available to the world in the form of online digital information.
That is if you can find it. And therein lies the problem. How is anyone going to find what you write, among the other 70 million posts produced and published in the same month?
The information highway
Once upon a time, any service, or product you wanted, was found through the yellow pages. Those days are long gone. Almost all of us now search for almost everything online.
The information highway has been completely redefined.
If you want to get your blog noticed, you are now going to need to attract the attention of an internet search engine.
People now find information through the world’s premier search engine Google. There are other search engines of course, but they pale into insignificance beside the Big G.
If you want to be noticed, you have to attract the attention of Google.
Bearing in mind that there are just ten spaces on the front page of google’s search results, and that hardly anyone looks past page one of the search result, it is something of a miracle for anyone to find one of your blog posts at all.
And for many new bloggers the reality is that their words, even when they are providing high quality and useful information, never ever reach the light of day.
Getting noticed by Google
Getting noticed by Google is not straightforward. Fortunately that’s something we can help you with.
What we have to acknowledge first and foremost is that Google is not designed to help you, or to support you, or in any way to promote you. It isn’t interested in helping me either!
Google’s sole purpose is to provide the best and most relevant results for those who are searching for stuff. And millions of dollars have been poured into the best and most sophisticated technology to enable them to do just that.
Google has grown up
Remember when search engines used to throw up pages of rubbish? Thin scrappy pages just packed with ads and offering nothing useful at all?
That’s no longer the case, and though Google isn’t perfect, it is now doing a pretty good job of answering millions of questions posed by ordinary folk the world over, day in and day out.
Google has grown up, and while some website owners bemoan the loss of their ability to trick and cheat their way onto Google’s front page, the rest of us benefit from a system that actually works in the way it should. And that turns the internet into the worlds most amazing, searchable repository of knowledge.
But how can we help you get noticed in this vast universe of data? How can we make your words stand out from all the others? The answer is not as hard as it might seem. And we can help you with it. Because getting noticed is something we know a lot about!
Learning to give people what they want
Unless you know how to ‘get noticed’ your carefully crafted words, on your beautifully designed website, are unlikely to be seen by anyone that you have not directly emailed with a link.
Unless your intention is to create a totally private record of your adventures with guinea pigs, that is not going to inspire you to blog on
The basis of any successful website or blog depends on it’s ability to provide answers to the questions that people are asking.
That’s what you need to become proficient at, and that’s something we can teach you to do, effectively and consistently.
